Hong Kong: Down memory lane

Written 22 July 2017

I was archiving my photos when I found these. Took me down memory lane for a bit – and suddenly I miss hanging out with these people (even though I still see them sometimes).

While my photography skills were shit in 2009, I tried to salvage them with some editing 8 years down the road:

Foggy skyline

All these photos bring back memories of project work (only missing Kailing on this trip), auditoriums, hanging out at class benches, and young puppy love. My face was (is) also a sphere.

Good ol’ Hong Kong breakfast
Shopping!

Just stuff you do when you’re 18 and unembarrassed in the streets of Hong Kong:

They couple so we also must couple ^

I like how selfies remind me of how I used to call the person by name. Especially if it was a funny name. Like Tongzi(雞) instead of Zi Heng.

Where did Yanqi go?! ^

I vaguely remember Jiamin calling this a matchmaking trip because the ratio of male:female is 1:1 HAHA.

Just… a toilet selfie. Don’t judge.

Seems like lunch time is usually photo time:

Madame Tussauds:

Regina being retarded since 2009.

YAY!

Visiting Mok’s sister/cousin (can’t remember which):

Daniel’s antics:

Oh, the stuff we do when we’re 18. I wonder who go extra in the middle (might have been Regina judging from the accessories)

Because we were all such good kids, this was new:

Lan Kwai Fong

See Daniel’s face confirm is drunk.

2009 – 2017 still the same

Ocean Park! (I love theme parks)

My fashion sense was shit.

Thirdwheeling since 2009 ^

Many of these photos I don’t remember anymore – but I remember the joy and exhilaration of being on my first trip with friends. I think this bunch holds something really dear to me: maybe it’s the feeling of being 18, and young and innocent. It is the feeling of part excitement, part fear of venturing into the unknown, and going out there to take on the world. And this trip was just one small step.
